THE REVIEW
God, I love this show!

Disclaimer: There were a handful BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD episodes -- particularly the ones from Season One -- that I didn’t review. “Fall of the Blue Beetle!” is one of those that I am retroactively reviewing for BOF, so I’m quite sure it’s influenced by the fact that I adore this animated series. And I miss it…A LOT. Moving on…

If you’re a fan of The Blue Beetle, then I imagine you will -- or already -- dig the hell out of this episode! Not only is it damn good, it’s also a very well done homage to the Silver Age’s version of the character, Ted Kord.

“Fall of the Blue Beetle!” focuses on the modern version of the character, Jamie Reyes, and his quest to find out more about the history and heritage of the Blue Beetle. The Ted Kord Blue Beetle appears in flashbacks, but they play a significant role in the main storyline. Ultimately, Reyes “learns a lesson,” if you will, and discovers why he was chosen to become the new Blue Beetle.

Even though the Jaime Reyes version of The Blue Beetle is the focus here and is a regular on this series, this episode is really a love letter to Ted Kord and to that BB’s fans. I’m quite sure those folks shed a tear while watching as “Fall of the Blue Beetle!” definitely is sad. But sad in that “cool” sort of way. Speaking of cool, this is too...
