Goyer/J-Nol Writing B3. Really? Posted by Jett @ 6:33 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2010
Via DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD, here's what they had to say about David Goyer's exit from FLASHFORWARD...
"[David Goyer] is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah."
BOF was told that Jonah Nolan and Goyer have officially been on board since Fall of 2008 (BOF, 2.16.09) -- about the same time Chris Nolan admitted to having done some BATMAN 3 "musing."
It certainly looks as if things are starting to come together on the B3 -- though when an official announcement comes is still not clear.

Freeman: There's Going To Be Another BATMAN Posted by Jett @ 10:46 AM on Monday, February 1, 2010
Morgan Freeman has again stated the obvious: BATMAN 3 is on its way.
"Well," said Freeman when asked by BBC Radio One if there will be another BATMAN, "I've been asked this question a number of times, and I don't think that Warner Bros., the board of directors, the chairman or the president, or any of those people are stupid. Which means there's going to be another Batman movie."
Will Lucius Fox return? "Now that's not carved in stone," said Freeman. "We'll only know that when the script is written and the same guy's writing the third script, if there is to be one." (SOURCE:MONSTERSANDCRITICS.COM. Thanks to "Chris M." for the heads up!)
Two B3-Related BOF Op-Eds Posted by Jett @ 10:46 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2010
Yes, I got all the emails on the alleged "B3 plot details" that have made the rounds on some websites. "Why isn't it on BOF?" I've been asked. Because it's BS, that's why.
Some BATMAN 3 ("take with a grain of salt") News! Posted by Jett @ 10:24 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2010
So, what’s the latest on BATMAN 3? Officially, nothing. BUT…
Here are a few things that I’m now comfortable posting on BOF after doing some digging and talking with a few folks over the last several weeks. And remember, while I feel pretty good about the following, NOTHING is set in stone, so talk it with the proverbial grain of salt…
* While I won’t go as far as to say it’s a done deal, I’m almost certain that director Christopher Nolan has agreed to do BATMAN 3 and it most likely will be his follow-up to INCEPTION. I'll be highly shocked and surprised if this isn't the case and Mr. Nolan doesn't return.
* Look for an official announcement between now and the end of July 2010. Keep in mind that THE DARK KNIGHT was officially announced in July of 2006 -- two years prior to the release of the film. The wildcard here is Nolan’s INCEPTION. Will Warner Bros. (and Nolan) prefer to get the B3 announcement out of the way before the promotion of the film begins?
* I have to be very vague here, OK? But there’s some scuttlebutt that a major character in THE DARK KNIGHT might -- let me repeat, might -- return in BATMAN 3 (and I’m not talking about Two Face -- though Harvey could indeed return via flashbacks).
As I’ve said previously, 2010 looks to be a very interesting year for fans of the cinematic Bat. Stay tuned!
WB Exec Alludes To Nolan’s Return Posted by Jett @ 6:32 AM on Friday, January 18, 2010
AVATAR is closing in on THE DARK KNIGHT's #2 domestic box office spot -- but that's not what this story's about.
In response, Dan Fellman -- head of distribution for Warner Bros. -- said the following about TDK's inevitable drop to #3. "We'll be proud of our No. 3 slot," Fellman told THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. "I can just give Chris Nolan a nudge that he's got to raise the bar."
I'm going to nudge WB here to go ahead and finally and officially announce BATMAN 3 (or whatever it'll actually be called) and that director Chris Nolan is returning. (Thanks to all the BOF'ers for the heads up!)
Also worth mentioning, in THE LOS ANGELES TIMES's recent preview of Nolan's INCEPTION (BOF's recent update on the film is HERE), it's noted that Chris "...may return to Gotham City for his next feature."

Chris Talks INCEPTION...B3 Too? Posted by Jett @ 9:46 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2010
GREAT teaser article/interview with Chris Nolan (and Emma Thomas) about INCEPTION via LATIMES.COM. I'm SURE he was asked about BATMAN 3, so I wonder if he'll say anything in the full article?
Probably not.

Hans Zimmer Talks BATMAN 3...Sorta Posted by Jett @ 8:21 AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2009
Composer Hans Zimmer talked to HEYGUYS.CO.UK about the soundtrack to the upcoming SHERLOCK HOLMES (which I've seen and will be posting the review on Christmas Day, FYI) and dropped a few – but quite telling – tidbits about BATMAN 3. Here’s a quick synopsis…
* He’s been meeting with Chris Nolan of late since he’s doing the soundtrack for INCEPTION. It seems there’s also been some talk about B3 between them as well.
* He said that he wanted the music for HOLMES to be very much NOT like THE DARK KNIGHT. Why? “Because there’s probably going to be another one…[and] you want to protect your franchise.”
Take that for what you will. You can listen to the entire 30 minute interview by clicking the link provided above.
Matt Damon Confirms Dent Rumor Posted by Jett @ 5:57 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2009
Back in the Fall of 2006, it was expected that the casting of Harvey Dent in THE DARK KNIGHT was imminent. Then nothing happened 'til later in 2007 when it was announced that Aaron Eckhart had nabbed the role. Scuttlebutt had it that whomever dirctor Chris Nolan originally wanted (ahem, Matt Damon) turned the part down -- thus the delay in the announcement.
Well, via MTV's SPLASH PAGE, Damon finally confirmed that he was indeed up for the role of Harvey Dent/Two Face. "I couldn't -- there was a scheduling thing," Damn said was the reason why he didn't do it. Whether that's the reason or that he turned it down as rumored is insignificant now -- and he certainly wouldn't say he told Nolan no for various reasons. Freeman "Just Knows" Nolan's Returning Posted by Jett @ 5:57 PM on Tuessday, December 8, 2009
Director Chris Nolan and Sir Michael Caine on the set of 2008's THE DARK KNIGHT
Caine: B3 Might Not Happen Posted by Jett @ 11:07 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2009
According to Michael Caine (via IGN who got it from a Caine interview with SHORTLIST magazine), BATMAN 3 might not happen.
Yeah right. Here's the quote...
"If they ever make another BATMAN I will be in, I will be the butler. But I don't know if they are ever going to make another BATMAN. If they do it won't be for quite a while."
I *think* this is nothing more than an old quote from Caine simply making the rounds again. There WILL be another BATMAN -- no doubt about it. Whether or not Chris Nolan and co. (that's whom I think Caine is actually referring to here) return for another is a totally different thing.

Nolan/B3 Decision Coming January '10? Posted by Jett @ 12:49 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2009
UPDATED (11/17/09): If you're coming to this story via another online website, it seems that some of them are getting the story a little wrong. Not once in the post below did BOF claim that there would be a BATMAN 3 announcent in January -- which is what several of them are reporting. What I clearly stated (or so I thought) was that while there's some scuttlebutt that WB and Nolan might come to a decision about B3, nothing was said about a pending announcement, FYI. - "Jett"
There’s some scuttlebutt that in early 2010, Warner Bros. and Chris Nolan will finalize the plan for BATMAN 3, according to a solid and longtime BOF source. Whether there will be an announcement or not remains to be seen.
Our guy told BOF that in his opinion, the longer we don’t here a Nolan/B3 announcement in 2010, the less likely it is that the director will return. (I don’t know if I necessarily agree with that since I’m of the belief that Chris has already signed on.)
The wildcard here in my opinion is INCEPTION. Will Warner Bros. want to announce B3 before, during, or after the marketing/publicity blitz for that film? I say if Mr. Nolan is returning (and I think that’s a definite), they might as well go ahead and make the announcement in early 2010. Nolan’s going to get peppered with B3 questions either way while he’s out doing press for INCEPTION anyway, so I don’t see any sense in keeping it a secret.
Regardless, our source also confirmed the obvious -- there’s going to be a BATMAN 3 with or without Nolan. And although they’re operating under the assumption that he will return, they do have their ducks in a row -- just in case.
Here's hoping that we do indeed get a "Nolan is returning for BATMAN 3" announcement early next year.

London's BFI IMAX is showing BATMAN, BATMAN RETURNS, BATMAN BEGINS, and THE DARK KNIGHT back to back as an "All-Nighter" on Friday, November 23, 2009. CLICK HERE for the details.
What a great event -- I wish I could go! Of course, I'd be skipping BATMAN RETURNS, but three fabulous films out of four ain't bad!

Murphy Talks (A Little) BATMAN 3 Posted by Jett @ 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2009
Cillian Murphy -- who played The Scarecrow in both BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT -- talks a little BATMAN 3. And I mean a little. "I hope they make a third one," he told MTV's SPLASH PAGE, "I think THE DARK KNIGHT was one of the greatest films."
Since Cillian's working with director Chris Nolan on INCEPTION, does he have any inside info? "We don’t talk about those things...It's out of my control. If anyone can match that or top [THE DARK KNIGHT], it’s Chris. Fingers crossed"
Finger's crossed indeed (though it doesn't really matter, since I think Chris is already on board.)

B3: Simply No News Posted by Jett @ 2:20 PM on Monday, October 19, 2009
I've got all your emails, OK? "Why the lack of BATMAN 3 news?" you ask me. Well, like I told you all when responding to those emails, there just isn't any. Don't kill the messenger, OK? There's nothing I can do about the lack of info and I'm certainly not going to just make some up. I too WISH WB WOULD RELEASE SOMETHING in the way of B3 news...

Caine Guesses BATMAN 3 Start Date Posted by Jett @ 7:01 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Although this is making the rounds on several outlets (too many to source actually), it really isn't much "news" to be honest. Regardless, Sir Michael Caine was asked about the next BATMAN and his guess is that there will be no filming 'til 2011 at the earliest -- which is pretty much what BOF has been saying for a while now. Here's the quote:
"Well, [BATMAN 3] certainly won’t be until 2011. Christopher Nolan is doing a very long movie called INCEPTION. There’s absolutely no way they could possibly start another BATMAN before 2011, so I’m not holding my breath."
This of course means a Summer 2012 release date for the next Bat-Flick. Speaking of which...
Here's hoping that Warner Bros. will announce something soon. If Mr. Nolan has signed on -- and I think he has -- then what's the hold up? Really, what's the issue with a press release via the trades simply saying that Chris Nolan has agreed to direct a third BATMAN and it will be his follow-up to INCEPTION?
On the other hand, if he hasn't (which I don't think is the case) and we're in the midst of a negotiation game, here's hoping that the studio has their director-ducks in a row in case Mr. Nolan is done with Gotham City.

THE DARK KNIGHT Wins DVD Awards Posted by Jett @ 7:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2009
THE DARK KNIGHT won the following DVD Critics Awards: "Best Theatrical Title," "Favorite DVD/Blu-ray Release," "Best Action Title," and "Best Superhero Title." The first was a critic's choice award and the >This stuff coming from Sir Michael Caine sounds familar, but what the hell. Here's the "latest" regarding BATMAN 3 according to the actor:
"I imagine another 'Batman' is quite a long way away. But I expect the third film will probably include The Riddler. I signed for three Batmans so I'm still up for it."
Like I said, sound familar? This quote from MONSTERSANDCRITICS.COM is probably either an older quote or simply Mr. Caine repeating himself.
Regardless, if "quite a long way away" means Summer 2012, then he's certainly on the mark. (Thanks to "Chris M.")
Yea! A BATMAN 3 Rumor! Posted by Jett @ 6:00 AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2009
What's this? And no, I'm not kidding. A BATMAN 3 rumor on BOF!
I've been laying really low on reporting B3 rumors this time around. Honestly, I could run a story on something just about every single day. Not getting caught up in that sort of nonsense this time around. And to be honest, there's stuff that I know that I simply can not divuldge, sorry.
So what's this latest rumor? Well, it's something that all fans -- including yours truly -- have knocked around since THE DARK KNIGHT. Here's a hint...
On the other hand, THIS RUMOR about this person...
...is TOTAL BS! Really people, this is from the same folks who said that Eddie Murphay had been cast as The Riddler and Shia LeBeouf was playing Robin!
UPDATED: Despite the fact that most BOF readers knew this was BS, some bought it hook, line, and sinker it appears. So for them, the follow quote from Warner Bros. (via PEOPLE.COM):
"It's rumor. It's not true," said a studio rep. "There is no script. There is no project to be cast in."
OK, time for the rest of you all to move on, nothing to see here.
