WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar (via VOX) says that Warner’s big tentpole films — like director Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN starring Robert Pattinson — will debut in theaters and stay there exclusively for 45 days before going to HBO Max, etc.
I think it’s very fair to say that a big, you know, let’s say a big DC movie…it’s very fair to say that that would go exclusively to theaters first and then go to somewhere like an HBO Max after it’s in theaters.
With a March 4, 2022 release date, it’s very possible that THE BATMAN will the first HUGE theatrical hit film post-pandemic. Certainly, more people will have been vaccinated and be more willing to visit a theater/cinema the further we get into 2021 and into next year when THE BATMAN hits the big screen.
