In conjunction with tonight’s premiere of THE PENGUIN, a new issue of THE GOTHAM GAZETTE has dropped on THE BATMAN/HBO/MAX/WB social media. Check it out below…
The print was small, but a few things I noticed…
- Alexander Knox is the reporter/author of one of the paper’s stories. So a version of ‘ol AK exists in THE BATMAN UNIVERSE! I wonder if 6 is still good?
- The article that Knox wrote mentions the “Gotham City District Attorney”, but the name of the D.A. was not given. Hmmm…?
- An article alleges that Alberto Falcone is the new head of the Falcone Crime Family. Of course, the main storyline in THE PENGUIN is there’s a gang war over who will take over from Carmine Falcone and become Gotham’s new mob kingpin.
- There’s a political cartoon of Jim Gordon on the rooftop with a GCPD cop (Martinez?!) next to the Batsignal with the caption, “It’s been weeks, sir.” With THE PENGUIN picking up right after the events of THE BATMAN, it seems like The Batman himself hasn’t been seen since the end of the first film…well, at least Gothamites haven’t spotted him.
- David John Krustenfell, the owner of Gotham’s professional basketball team the Gothan Guardsmen, is threatening to leave the city for Bludhaven if Mayor Bella Real and the city don’t pony over more money to renovate Gotham Square Garden. As Mackenzie Bock would say, “You son of a bitch!”
- There’s an ad for the upcoming “Gotham Food Festival” which is taking place, well, right now. According to the ad, the festival runs from September 13-22, 2024. So it looks like they might be adjusting the years/time that THE BATMAN SAGA takes place.
Again, THE PENGUIN begins tonight and BOF will have a review and podcast of episode one tomorrow! – Bill “Jett” Ramey
(Thanks to “James A.” for the heads up!)
