Is THE BATMAN About to Change Release Dates Again? (UPDATED!)

Let me preface this report by saying that I’ve suggested that it might be wise for Warner Bros. to go ahead and move Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN — starring Robert Pattinson in the title role — to Summer 2022.  You can read my op-ed HERE, but in a nutshell, I argue to move THE FLASH — which is yet to start filming — from June 3, 2022, and install THE BATMAN in that spot.

With all that said, COLLIDER is reporting (“exclusively”) that Warner’s DUNE is moving from December 18, 2020 to October 1, 2021 — a date that just so happens to be currently be held by — wait for it — THE BATMAN.

So if this report is legit, reason — and business — says there’s no way in hell that WB is going to release both DUNE and THE BATMAN on the same day.  And with WONDER WOMAN 1984 now coming out on Christmas Day 2020, I’m thinking that WB isn’t going to have 2 of their tentpole films essentially competing with only a 7-day difference in their release dates.
