DC Studios co-head honcho James Gunn has been supportive of Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN EPIC CRIME SAGA…at least publicly.
I’ll admit, I’m a tad skeptical of exactly how supportive Mr. Gunn actually is behind the scenes. But even though I look at what Mr. Gunn says about Mr. Reeves and his SAGA with squinted eyes, at the end of the day, I usually give him the benefit of the doubt; so yeah, I believe that he does indeed support it.
Probably. ANYWAY…
Here’s what James Gunn told ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY about Mr. Reeves and the SAGA in its big feature on James Gunn’s upcoming DCU film, SUPERMAN (aka SUPERMAN AND ALL HIS DC FRIENDS AND ENEMIES BECAUSE IT’S ALL CONNECTED)…
What Matt’s doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary. We’re supposed to see that script shortly, and I can’t wait.
Yes, it is important. Both THE BATMAN and its HBO spinoff THE PENGUIN were big hits. People are invested in the SAGA and want to see how it plays out as it was originally conceived.
And it certainly appears that he’s aware that there are a lot of people (like me from time to time) who believe that the SAGA is an “inconvenient success” for Mr. Gunn, and he would prefer to get to the DCU Batman yesterday. Again, I’ll take Mr. Gunn at his word that he believes that the SAGA, as well as other potential DC ELSEWORLDS projects, will be good for the brand as well as Warner Bros./DC Studios.

Hey, I’m almost there to liking it no matter what because of Krypto and Rachel Brosnahan. I’m seeing it early, so stay tuned for my review, and I’m sure we’ll have a podcast or two talking about SUPERMAN.
And Krypto.
