Via THE DIRECT, BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER showrunner James Tucker was asked about The Joker appearing in season 2 of the animated series after being teased at the end of the season 2 finale.  Here’s what he had to say:

I think it’ll be a new take on The Joker for people who only know of [the Mark Hamill and Jack Nicholson versions of the character]; this take on The Joker will be very different for them. But for people who’ve read comics for a long, long, long, long time, it won’t be. I think some people will recognize it and go, ‘Oh, I see what they’re doing.’ And other people will go, ‘Wow, this is different.’ But, I think it’s all Joker.

Tucker also said that even though THE BATMAN EPIC CRIME SAGA guru Matt Reeves is an executive producer on BCC, Tucker and company are doing their own thing:

Well, it’s funny, we weren’t given a mandate to match what he was doing. He’s been very accommodating in that he understands our show is separate from what he’s doing in the movies and he gets where our influences are coming from and he understands it.

The only thing we may have directly in common is that our Batman is coming from a more detective angle and so is his, and the tone of the series, you know, there’s a general dark tone. But other than that, you know, the settings are different, it’s all different. We’re basically coming from the same source material, just slightly verging away from stepping on each other’s toes.

Gotta say that I agree with Mr. Tucker, even though I do see those similarities and others as well. Like Batman and Bruce Wayne being younger and Bruce being emotionally detached from, well, just about everything.

No specific release date was given, but JT said that they are putting the “final touches” on season 2, and it will debut sometime in 2026.

As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
