Jeffrey Dean Morgan: Playing Batman Would Be “Thrill of a Lifetime”

Per TOTAL FILM, actor Jeffery Dean Morgan — who cameoed as Thomas Wayne in BATMAN v SUPERMAN — says he’d love a crack at acting playing Batman.

We’ll see. I mean, look, DC is DC and they’ll figure out what they’re going to do next,” Morgan said. “But I’m highly aware of the character, I will say that. I’m highly aware of the character, and it would probably be a thrill of a lifetime to put on the Batsuit.

Which Batman is he referring to?  That would be the FLASHPOINT Thomas Wayne version of the character.

And what I know about the FLASHPOINT Batman is, you know, for me, I think he is not only the darkest of the Batmen, but the coolest. And I love his whole storyline and who he is and the tortured soul of it all.

JDM also admitted that he and director Zack Snyder once talked about doing a Batman movie together.

Look, I’m not going to lie. Zack Snyder and I talked about doing Batman together when we did WATCHMEN. I think it was both he and I’s favorite character and favorite story.

One of my FAVORITE Batman stories! – Jett

Back in 2010 at Comic Con in San Diego, I attended a party thrown by Warner Bros. to promote Snyder’s then next film, SUCKER PUNCH.  I got to talk to Zack — who is nothing but a nice and cool dude — for about 20 minutes one on one.  One of the things he told me was that he wanted to do a standalone Batman film, “whenever Chris [Nolan] is done, of course.”  So I totally believe that he talked to JDM about doing just that while filming WATCHMEN.

As far as JDM as the Thomas Wayne Batman in FLASHPOINT, we’ll see.  I was told last year that at one point, the script had a role for the members of the Justice League.  If that’s still the case — and it may not be with a new creative team on board — perhaps we’ll actually get to see the Thomas Wayne FLASHPOINT Batman on the big screen.  On the other hand, I’ve recently heard that FLASHPOINT is a straight-up Flash movie.

Personally, I’d rather see a straight-up Flash film without cameos and all that stuff — no matter how awesome and cool I think the T-Wayne Batman is.  And coming off of the mess that was JUSTICE LEAGUE, I don’t know why in the hell Warner Bros. would want to make a JUSTICE LEAGUE 1.5 anyway.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this project plays out…or if it doesn’t. – Bill “Jett” Ramey

Bill “Jett” Ramey isn’t just a Batman fan — he’s one of the founding fathers of the online Batman community. As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. If there is a Mount Rushmore of this stuff, his face is already up there — sunglasses on, arms crossed, probably telling someone to calm down. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
