So yeah, the U.S. Independence Day holiday is actually next month, but since this mailbag is so close to the end of June and July 4th, I figured I’d do a 2 for 1…or is that a 1 for 2?  Anyway, let’s get to y’all’s questions! – Bill “Jett” Ramey

After THE BATMAN PART II, what HBO mini-series do you think they would potentially do? Will they play it safe and attempt a season 2 of THE PENGUIN or try something original and make something along the lines of a Catwoman & Sofia Gigante mini series, depending on where the story possibilities are left to go after PART II has finally has its theatrical run?

JETT SAYS: I think it’s now safe to assume that we will not get another HBO series before PART II.  I guess it all depends on 2 things: The events of THE BATMAN PART II and if Warner Bros./DC Studios allow Matt Reeves to finish THE BATMAN EPIC CRIME SAGA as he intended. I’m going to take James Gunn and Peter Safran at their word, as the former has said the SAGA is very important to WB/DC Studios, and the latter has referenced Reeves doing a “trilogy” of films.

As far as another HBO series or 2, even though they’ve kicked around the idea of a 2nd season of THE PENGUIN, they’re only going to do one if it makes sense and theirs a story to tell. As a fan, the idea of a Selina/Sofia series sounds great, but I’ll leave that up to the creatives.  Maybe it’s a combo of more of THE PENGUIN with Selina and Sofia in it?  Again, I’ll leave that up to the creatives.

Regardless of whether or not Batman appears in Clayface, certainly other Gotham City regulars must make an appearance and need the DCU cast. Who are you thinking of? Gordon? Montoya? Any heroes?

JETT SAYS: “Certainly?”  No, I don’t think it’s certain at all that any Batman characters appear in CLAYFACE.  Hell, it doesn’t even have to be set in Gotham City.  James Gunn has said that the DCU Batman will not make any cameos in other DCU projects and will make his debut in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD.  Not sure we see any Batman characters until then…and that’s a ways off.

Is the end credit scene in SUPERMAN Batman-related?

JETT SAYS: No. That would be dumb AF.  James Gunn has said that end credits scenes will be related to the film that it’s in and not be used to set up other DCU stuff.  Furthermore, as I said in the previous Q/A, Gunn said we won’t see the DCU Batman until the first DCU Batman movie.

Assuming THE BATMAN PART II does well, what do you think the chances of a PART II are? Do you think it would happen, or be pushed aside for DCU Batman (assuming that’s a thing in a few years)?

JETT SAYS: As I said in a previous Q/A, I’m taking Gunn and Safran at their word in regards to Reeves’ SAGA.  And if it’s a hit — and I’m of the mind that it will do better at the box office than THE BATMAN (a lot of folks discovered THE BATMAN via THE PENGUIN) — it’s a no-brainer business-wise.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: If the inclusion of Batman in the DCU ASAP is so important to the success of the DCU, and other DC characters (Superman!) can’t shoulder the load for the time being, then there’s no point in doing a shared universe (which, in my opinion, they shouldn’t be doing anyway).

Would you consider THE PENGUIN’s Eve Karlo, with her always transforming and playing a certain part (like Oz’s mother in the finale), a take on Clayface in THE BATMAN EPIC CRIME SAGA? Do you think she could play a bigger part in the upcoming instalments of Matt Reeves’ films and adjacent TV shows?

JETT SAYS: That’s a VERY interesting hypothesis!  Wow, wouldn’t that be something!  Hey, I’m not ruling it out, and we’ll find out soon enough.  Good thinking, man!

When do you reckon we’ll start getting casting announcements for THE BATMAN: PART II and learn who the villain(s) are? Do you know if they’re still changing the subtitle or sticking with PART II? I kinda like that, but don’t care so long as it’s great. As for SUPERMAN, you yourself will be seeing and reviewing it, right? I look forward to reading your thoughts! My wife and I are excited and going on opening day.

JETT SAYS: I suspect that casting announcements for THE BATMAN PART II will start either late Summer or early Fall.  And yes, the title is THE BATMAN PART II.

As far as SUPERMAN, I still have my issues with it (the inclusion of non-Superman DC characters only because of the shared universe thing), but I’m starting to get a little excited…mainly because of Krypto!  I’m seeing it early at my local presser and will have a review on BOF for it around July 9th.

We’re coming up on the first anniversary of BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER. Any stirring on Season 2?

JETT SAYS: Other than the fact that they are currently working on Season 2, no.  Hopefully, we’ll know when it’s going to drop on Prime soon.

Would you like to see The Mad Hatter Appear in THE BATMAN SAGA? I think the Mad Hatter would really work in Matt Reeves’ universe.

JETT SAYS: Frankly, I’m not a big fan of the character, but if Matt Reeves wants to use him, I’m fine with it.  But here’s my thing: How would The Mad Hatter fit in an epic crime story?  How does it make sense to enter this world and the story that was established in THE BATMAN and even further in THE PENGUIN? That’s where I come down when people ask me if character X or villain Y should be in PART II.

Important question for all of us Batman fans/dog Lovers: With Krypto making his big screen debut in a few weeks, how long will we have to wait before we get Ace in a live-action Batman movie? Could he be pivotal in an epic crime saga?

JETT SAYS: Dude, I’ve been wanting Ace in a Batman movie forever!  I mean, it’s simple, right?  Bruce Wayne has a dog named Ace.  He doesn’t have to wear a dog Bat-cowl and cape and fight crime.  Just be a good ‘ol dog!

Let’s say you owned stock in Wayne Enterprises, Luthor Corp, Kord Industries, and Queen Consolidated, plus billions in Monopoly money. How much of that would you wager on the JJ Abrams Superman movie ever getting made? It feels like it’s been stuck in the Developmental Phantom Zone for five years!

JETT SAYS: While James Gunn has said that ELSEWORLDS projects are important to what they are doing at DC Studios, I do not believe that movie is going to happen.

Would you like to see any updates to Pattinson’s Batsuit in THE BATMAN PART II? The suit has personally been my favorite live-action suit so far.

JETT SAYS: I love that Batsuit!  I’d say that updates on it will be minimal since we saw him in the same suit at the end of THE BATMAN, and the events of THE BATMAN PART II are only a few weeks after those of the first film.
