James Gunn Reveals THE SUICIDE SQUAD Cast List

2993

Via his Twitter, THE SUICIDE SQUAD director James Gunn has revealed the cast list for the film — but not the roles the actors are playing (though some of ’em we already know).  And they are…

  • Margot Robbie
  • Idris Elba
  • Viola Davis
  • Michael Rooker
  • Joel Kinnaman
  • Jai Courtney
  • John Cena
  • Nathan Fillion
  • David Dastmalchian
  • Taika Waititi
  • Alice Braga
  • Sean Gunn
  • Storm Reid
  • Pete Davidson
  • Flula Borg
  • Peter Capaldi
  • Joaquín Cosío
  • Mayling Ng
  • Juan Diego Botto
  • Steve Agee
  • Tinashe Kajese
  • Daniela Melchior
  • Julio Ruis
  • Jennifer Holland

In his tweet (I guess that’s a verb nowadays), Gunn warned folks to get “too attached,” which I figure that means that there are going to be several cameos in the film…and they’ll probably be killed off pretty fast ala Slipknot.

It’s going to be interesting and fun to find out over the next few weeks exactly who these newcomers will be playing.

Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD has been billed as both a “total reboot” and a “relaunch” of the franchise.  Either way, I’m good because I know it’s going to be something new and different from its predecessor no matter how you label it.

Of course the “It all MUST connect!” contingent will take out their slide rules and try to figure out how and, well, this new movie will “connect” to the previous film, the DCEU (which never existed as a brand and is DOA now anyway) and future DC movies like THE BATMAN (it won’t), but all of that is neither here nor there.

Check out Mr. Gunn’s tweet below and his THE SUICIDE SQUAD starts filming in Atlanta in a couple of weeks and will hit theaters on August 6, 2021. – Bill “Jett” Ramey

Bill "Jett" Ramey
Bill “Jett” Ramey isn’t just a Batman fan — he’s one of the founding fathers of the online Batman community. As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. If there is a Mount Rushmore of this stuff, his face is already up there — sunglasses on, arms crossed, probably telling someone to calm down. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
