Colin Farrell Reprising Penguin Role in THE BATMAN HBO Max Spinoff

Per VARIETY, Colin Farrell will be the star and executive producer on the upcoming THE BATMAN spinoff Penguin series for HBO Max.

Lauren LeFranc will write the script for the series. THE BATMAN director Matt Reeves and the film’s producer Dylan Clark will executive produce this series under their 6th & Idaho and Dylan Clark Productions banners respectively. Warner Bros. Television will produce for HBO Max.  The series is said to focus on The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld.

The Penguin prequel is the second THE BATMAN spinoff for HBO Max.  A drama set within the Gotham Police Department (and perhaps Arkham Asylum as well) is also in development at the streamer.  WarnerMedia is planning a connected universe set in the world of THE BATMAN across all of its platforms.
