REVIEW

We’re getting near the end folks, and with episode 6 of THE PENGUIN, “Golden Summit”, the table has been set.

With this episode, we experience that biggest time jump — 10 days according to the show’s creators — and so much has happened since the end of episode 5.

Oz is still operating out of Crown Point with his whereabouts unknown to his enemies.  Speaking of which, Sofia and Sal continue looking for Oz with Sofia having an epiphany of how to smoke him out: Find someone he cares about.  The problem is that Oz doesn’t care about anyone but himself…or so the Gigante/Maroni duo think.  However, we know there is someone Oz cares about who Sofia believes is dead: His mother, Francis.  And remember, Squid saw Vic bringing Francis to the hideaway in Crown Point in the previous episode.  Will Squid go to Sofia and Sal with that info?  Let’s just say that he doesn’t get the chance thanks to Vic.  What a moment and a turning point for Vic!

Then there’s Oz’s kinda-sorta girlfriend, Eve Karlo.  While rummaging through Oz’s apartment with Sal, Sofia finds a picture of Eve in her special drawer in Oz’s bedroom.  This leads to one of the best scenes of this episode when Sofia confronts/comes to kill Eve in her apartment after being “sold out” by Roxy.  Ultimately, they hash things out, come to an understanding, and both give each other important information about Oz.

While all of this is going on, Oz…

Gets the power restored in Crown Point after having a “talk” (which involves needlenose pliers) with a Gotham City Councilman…

Sets up a meeting with all of the mob families of the city (not named Gigante or Maroni) to make them all an offer: Let’s combine our forces and take over Gotham…

And makes a sacred promise to his mother.

The episode ends with Vic and Francis dancing and Sofia holding a crowbar.

I figure a lot of major “WTF?!” stuff is going to go down in next week’s penultimate episode…and I can’t wait for what I won’t see coming. – Bill “Jett” Ramey

Bill “Jett” Ramey isn’t just a Batman fan — he’s one of the founding fathers of the online Batman community. As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
