While interviewing with TECHNIKART.COM, Robert Pattinson, the star of THE BATMAN EPIC CRIME SAGA, was asked a few questions about THE BATMAN: PART II and getting the role of The Dark Knight. Here’s what he had to say…
About getting the lead role in THE BATMAN
I assure you, I’m very lucky… Look, for The Batman, it was very strange. I’ve never auditioned, and I’ve never played a superhero before. Two or three years before I got the role, I started thinking about it, when I really didn’t have a chance to play Batman.
And then, slowly, there was like an alignment of planets
When does THE BATMAN: PART II begin filming?
I’m going to shoot it after THE ODYSSEY, at the end of the year. I only have a vague idea of the script.
Is The Joker the main villain of the film?
Yes. No. I don’t know. Potentially.
A few thoughts…
If you were following the production of THE BATMAN a few years ago, you know that Robert Pattinson actively coveted and pursued the role. Furthermore, when Matt Reeves wrote the script, he did so with Robert Pattinson in mind as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Both were unaware of the other’s thoughts on the role of Batman…which means there certainly was some serendipity involved!
And again, Pattinson confirms that THE BATMAN: PART II will begin filming later this year (2025). Since he has a supporting role in THE ODYSSEY, his time involved in filming may be relatively short. Regardless, Christopher Nolan’s new film has no affect on Pattinson’s job as Batman and he’ll have plenty of time to use his Bosu Ball and 5 lb dumbbell to get into Batman shape.
As far as what he said about The Joker being — or not being — in the film, I wouldn’t read too much into that…at all. That was a VERY Robert Pattinson answer to an interview question.
