Via PUCK (by way of WORLD OF REEL), the script for THE BATMAN: PART II is set to be delivered to Warner Bros./DC Studios on Monday (June 23, 2025), and the studio is eyeing a January 2026 start of filming.
The report notes that while Matt Reeves is a perfectionist and a meticulous filmmaker, there was a legitimate reason why the film’s release date was pushed from 2026 to October 1, 2027 (and I won’t delve into that here on BOF because it’s none of my business or yours). Additionally, PUCK notes that the bigwigs at Warner Bros. were growing a bit impatient with Reeves; however, DC Studios co-boss James Gunn has defended Reeves publicly many times via social media and recent interviews (“Get off of Matt’s nuts!” – James Gunn).
Look, am I anxious for THE BATMAN: PART II? Hell yeah. But here’s how I look at it…
If there were no SAG and WGA strikes, and if Reeves didn’t have to deal with what he had to deal with, then the film would be coming out in 4 months. That’s cool and all, but that means all the fun surrounding the film would just about be over. Now we still have a little over 2 full years to enjoy the lead-up to its release on 10/1/2027. And look, I’m in no hurry for time to fly by nowadays, trust me. – Bill “Jett” Ramey
