Matt Reeves is dealing with a personal family issue that’s required him to step away from THE BATMAN PART II production for a short period of time.

That’s life. It happens.

And let’s get this straight from the get-go: It’s nobody’s business but Matt Reeves and his family. He doesn’t owe me or fans an explanation, a timetable, or a press conference. The studio gave a simple, respectful statement — and that’s all anyone is entitled to.

But predictably, a (hopefully) small yet obnoxiously loud corner of fandom has reacted with the usual F’n ridiculous behavior we unfortunately become accustomed to. No empathy. No understanding. No basic human decency. Just entitlement, speculation, and outrage from people who seem to think a filmmaker’s private life is theirs to dissect. These social‑media cretins aren’t “fans.” They’re jerks with no self-awareness; cowardly hiding behind anonymous avatars and usernames.

Here’s the truth: Real life comes first. Family comes first. And when something serious happens, work stops — even when that work is a Batman movie. Reeves has earned every ounce of grace and patience. The man delivered one of the best Batman films ever made and is crafting a sequel with the same meticulous care. Appreciate that.

I 100% believe that most Batman fans understand this. They know the people making these films are human beings with families, responsibilities, and lives outside the set. They know THE BATMAN PART II will resume when it resumes, and that at the end of the day, it’s just a movie.

But that toxic sliver of Batman “fans”? The ones demanding answers, inventing conspiracies (“He’s hijacking WB’s most-prized IP!”), or acting like Reeves owes them daily updates? They’re proving exactly why they are a disgrace to Batman fandom.

And here’s the part some folks really need to hear: Batman on film will be just fine. THE BATMAN PART II will be just fine. You will be just fine. The only thing not fine is the childish, self‑centered reaction from people who think their anticipation for a film outweighs a man’s responsibility to his family. If that’s your stance, you’re not a fan — you’re just an A-hole.

The bottom line is simple: Matt Reeves doesn’t owe you a damn thing right now. He’s taking care of what matters. The rest of us can wait. And if you can’t? Well… that says a hell of a lot more about you than it does about him. — Bill “Jett” Ramey

Bill “Jett” Ramey isn’t just a Batman fan — he’s one of the founding fathers of the online Batman community. As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
