UPDATE: According to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska, Eiza Gonzalez and Zoe Kravitz were the top four finalists for the role of Catwoman in THE BATMAN and all read with star Robert Pattinson.  The top four became the top two last week with Kravitz ultimately getting the role.  As far as Ana de Armas, BOF back on July 1st

THR also describes Reeves’ THE BATMAN as “Reeves is directing what is described as a grounded take with a large rogue’s gallery as the antagonists.”  A “grounded take”…YES! *fist pump*

The trade also seemingly confirms the previous buzz that Jeffery Wright has been cast as Commissioner Gordon, which is also a wonderful choice.

For a while now, I told BOF readers “After JOKER” when asked when we might hear the next round of THE BATMAN casting news.

Per VARIETY, Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman in director Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN…and I totally dig it.

(Isn’t she kinda reprising the role as she voiced Catwoman in one of the greatest Batman films of all time, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE?)

Ms. Kravitz will join Lee Meriwether (BATMAN: THE MOVIE), Michelle Pfeiffer (BATMAN RETURNS), and Anne Hathaway (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES) as those who have played Catwoman on the big screen in a Batman film (yes, Halle Berry played Catwoman in a crappy solo movie, I know, unfortunately) and both Julie Newmar (the BEST) and Eartha Kitt (bold move for the 1960s) portrayed Catwoman on the classic BATMAN TV series.

The trade also says that filming will start in late 2019 or early 2020 which is on par with what I’ve heard as well.  I’ve long said that THE BATMAN would go in front of cameras in early to mid-2020 than late this year — which is, well basically now.

And of course, Robert Pattinson will be playing The Dark Knight in Reeves’ THE BATMAN.

Speaking of RP, I’m quite sure that there will be some “fans” will have an episode over this casting as well; and it’ll be unfounded and frankly ignorant too.  For those folks (who probably don’t read BOF because they aren’t my audience on purpose and I deliberately try to run off), I suggest they read my op-ed about prejudging the casting for Batman films.

(Thanks to all those who kept and keep me in the loop on THE BATMAN casting — shoutout to all of y’all!)
