Finally, 2020 is coming to an end…FINALLY!

Let’s celebrate the last month of this year with a new BOF Mailbag, shall we?  Thanks for all the questions, happy holidays, and enjoy! – Bill “Jett” Ramey

Is Warner Bros, positioning THE BATMAN as the movie to save theaters post-pandemic?

JETT SAYS: It could likely be the first big film to perform, well, big at theaters and the box office once things are relatively back to “normal.”  Unless, of course, AT&T mandates it debut on their crown jewel, HBO Max, simultaneously like they’re doing with all of their 2021 releases.

Given AT&T’s current strategy towards WB and DC Entertainment do you think there’s still room for further development of the DC Universe or do you see this as the first step of some plan to dismantle and sellout all WB-Based brands/divisions to other entertainment companies piece by piece?

JETT SAYS: I’m not sure about that because the IP’s that come with owning DC — especially Batman — is worth a lot of money.  With that said — and this is something I thought I’d never say or want — I’m starting to hope that AT&T would sell DC Comics and then license the film and TV rights to DC characters to other studios.

JETT SAYS: I think it sucks.  Things change and progress is progress, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.

How will you see WONDER WOMAN 1984?

JETT SAYS: In a movie theater…probably.  Honestly, I’m not sure.  I want to see it on the big screen, but I’m also being careful about COVID-19.

When will THE BATMAN finish shooting? So I know this pandemic won’t delay it any longer.

JETT SAYS: Apparently, filming will continue into February.  I think they’re going to be OK.

What are the must-watch Christmas movies in the Jett house every year?

JETT SAYS: It’s not BATMAN RETURNS!

The recent bad press for Warner Bros. — as well as the talk about the director’s guild boycotting them — will this all affect the future of Batman on film? What a mess.

JETT SAYS: It depends on what they do with THE BATMAN I suspect.  If it gets the same treatment as WONDER WOMAN 1984 and WB’s 2021 slate of films, yeah, I’d start to worry.

JETT SAYS: Dude, that’s a legit concern.  Warner Bros. was LONG known as the most filmmaker friendly studio in Hollywood.  With the likes of Christopher Nolan and others coming out publicly against them, that ain’t good.  Let’s see what happens come 2022.

Outside of GCPD, Harley Quinn, and Titans, is there any other new Bat-related content coming to HBO Max to look forward to?

JETT SAYS: I’m not sure.  There have been rumors of a Catwoman prestige series and maybe something based at Arkham Asylum.  We’ll see.

JETT SAYS: I’d say no.

Do you think or know if Matt Reeves plans on exploring Batman’s allies like Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, or Azrael even?!

JETT SAYS: You saw the first trailer for THE BATMAN, right?  Base on that and other things I’ve heard, I’m pretty sure that THE BATMAN is going to be even more grounded than THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY.  Thus, I don’t see “sidekicks” happening in this trilogy — at least not anything close to the comics.

Bill "Jett" Ramey
Bill “Jett” Ramey isn’t just a Batman fan — he’s one of the founding fathers of the online Batman community. As the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Batman-On-Film.com, the original and longest-running Batman news and commentary site, Jett helped carve the very bedrock of modern fan internet press. If there is a Mount Rushmore of this stuff, his face is already up there — sunglasses on, arms crossed, probably telling someone to calm down. A lifelong Dark Knight disciple, Jett has spent decades championing filmmaker‑driven Batman stories, cutting through fanboy noise with a Texas‑sized dose of honesty, and keeping the conversation smart, civil, and drama‑free. He’s the BOF Godfather — the guy who was here before the hashtags, before the clickbait, before the algorithms… and he’s still here, still talking Batman, still calling it straight. When he steps out of Gotham, Jett is pure Texas. He bleeds Dallas Cowboys blue, blasts Elvis and rock ’n’ roll, and has a deep appreciation for cold beer, dive bars, and Texas Longhorns football. He works out, he cooks, and he can grill like a man who’s earned the right to say “don’t assume” when he tells you he lives in the great state of Texas. He shares that home with his wife — “Announcer Rachel” — and their dogs: Gracelin the Labradoodle and Presley, a rescue pup named after the King himself.
