Clancy Brown has been cast as Salvatore Maroni in THE BATMAN‘s HBO spinoff series, THE PENGUIN. Picking up right after the events of THE BATMAN, THE PENGUIN stars Colin Farrell and centers on the character, Oz, he played in the film.
If you’re a regular reader of BOF and a listener of the BOF Social Hour podcast, you know I’ve long speculated that Sal Maroni would be a character that would be featured in THE PENGUIN. I mean, after the events of THE BATMAN it seemed obvious that Maroni’s drug conviction would be overturned (due to the shenanigans of Carmine Falcone, the Gotham police, and Gotham district attorney’s office) and he would return to Gotham to reclaim his place high atop the city’s organized crime hierarchy.

In the comics, Sal Maroni is a Gotham City mob boss and the person responsible for scarring D.A. Havey Dent which commenced his transformation into Two Face.
Other cast members in the 8-part series besides Farrell and Brown include Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell.
The series is executive produced by Reeves, Dylan Clark, and Farrell; Lauren LeFranc, who writes and serves as showrunner; Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes; and Bill Carraro. THE PENGUIN is produced by Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions in association with Warner Bros Television, where Reeves and 6th & Idaho are under an overall deal. 6th & Idaho’s Daniel Pipski also serves as executive producer and Rafi Crohn is co-executive producer. – Bill “Jett” Ramey
