UPDATE 2: Via THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, Robert Richardson says that he has not been hired to be the cinematographer for THE BATMAN.

I’m not shooting THE BATMAN…I have never met with Matt Reeves.  I woke up this morning to a slew of text messages, ‘Congratulations, I didn’t know you were shooting BATMAN.’ I was highly perplexed.  The closest part of reality is that when Ben Affleck was going to direct, I WAS going to shoot. But I don’t know how that got moved into this space.

So there you go.  The original report is below. – Jett

A couple of news tidbits on Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN

Robert Richardson (KILL BILL VOL I, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) has joined the crew of THE BATMAN as cinematographer.

THEGWW.COM (originally via PRODUCTION WEEKLY) is reporting that production on THE BATMAN will begin on January 13, 2020, in the UK.

This jibes with previous reports saying that filming would most likely begin in early 2020 and not in late 2019 as some suggested.

If you’ve been following BOF, you know that I always said that filming beginning in early 2020 was more likely than later this year, so I totally buy this new report.

Stay tuned to BOF for all of our coverage of THE BATMAN — which hits theaters on June 25, 2021! – Bill “Jett” Ramey
