And I 100% agree with him!

Here’s the exchange between Robert Pattinson and TODAY’s Will Geist that aired this past weekend on NBC

Willie Geist: I have to ask you about Batman. That came to you and you thought what? You want to be a superhero…
Robert Pattinson: Batman’s not a superhero. [laughs]
Willie Geist: Forgive me? [laughs] How do we classify it?
Robert Pattinson: It’s weird, I always balk at it. I’m like, “It doesn’t count, you need to have like magical powers to be a superhero.”
Willie Geist: I mean, he’s got a cape, so that’s a pretty good start.
Robert Pattinson: Yeah, the cape is there. I give you that one.

Before anyone has a meltdown, watch the video below of the full interview to get the context of what Pattinson says and how he says it.

He’s sort of joking, but not really because Batman isn’t a “superhero,” per se.  And that’s what makes the character so different — and frankly more interesting — than the costumed beings with fantastical/magical/supernatural powers.

Batman is just a human…like the rest of us.  An awesome human who does heroic things, but human nonetheless.  Therefore, he’s relatable.
