TRADE REPORT: Andy Serkis in Talks to Play Alfred in THE BATMAN

I kinda toldja, no?

According to THE WRAP, Andy Serkis is in negotiations to play Bruce Wayne’s pseudo-father and Batman’s partner — Alfred Pennyworth — in director Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN.

If it comes to fruition, it would be a great casting get!

Back in June, I reported here on BOF that I had heard that Mr. Serkis was up for a role in THE BATMAN.  I was told that it wouldn’t be a CGI/MoCap performance and no specific role was revealed.  I speculated that it might be The Penguin, but also said he could play just about anyone — and anything (CGI Batmobile? HA!) — in THE BATMAN and he’d be awesome.

After that BOF report, things got quiet in regards to Mr. Serkis being part of THE BATMAN cast — mainly because he’s been tapped to direct VENOM 2.  But it seems that things were still happening behind the scenes.

Personally, I’d LOVE for this to happen as Mr. Serkis is a fantastic actor, but he’d also give us a different incarnation — and frankly younger (Serkis is 55 and Statham is 52) — Alfred Pennyworth on film.

So, what do y’all think of this potential casting?  Would Andy Serkis make a great Alfred or not?  It would awesome and yes he would, but post your thoughts in the comments section below!
